A virtual network of centres for Internet research is emerging, which includes units with a variety of perspectives on Internet studies. The following list provides general categories of centres with illustrations of each. Comments on the categories and suggestions of centres that should be included or excluded should be directed to Bill Dutton at Director at oii.ox.ac.uk. Please e-mail or comment with suggested additions. The appended list adds programmes inadvertently omitted from the previous lists: Information Systems and Innovation Group at LSE has a research focus on the social use of technology, including the Internet. Media and Communication Department; Swansea University is developing work on new media, the Internet, and digital technology. Also, I have added the School of Media and Information at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia. It has sought to develop a strong focus on Internet Studies. See http://info.mediainfo.curtin.edu.au/internet_studies.cfm and the Department of Media and Communications (jointly with the Department of Informatics) at the University of Oslo in Norway, which offers courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) in Digital Media. See http://www.media.uio.no/english/ My apologies for missing these programs, but I am encouraged that I have not received more corrections. Do let me know if this remains incomplete or in anyway misrepresents any program.

‘There are two more institutions which I feel deserve to be on the list.
The first is the School of Media and Information at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia. It has a strong focus on Internet Studies. See http://info.mediainfo.curtin.edu.au/internet_studies.cfm
The other is the Department of Media and Communications (jointly with the Department of Informatics) at the University of Oslo in Norway, which offers courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) in Digital Media.
