The Atheist Bus is Back Again
1 Comment Published by Alejandro October 21st, 2008 in *OIINEWS, atheismAmazing! The Atheist Bus is back again with a full-blown web campaign: a website, a facebook group and a donation page. This time the goal is to get at least £5,500 in donations to have 30 buses in London running with the ad “There’s probably no God, Now stop worrying and enjoy your life” for 4 weeks. Richard Dawkins has endorsed the campaign and promised to match all donations up to those £5,500, making a total of at least £11,000.
What is amazing is that the campaign was launched yesterday evening (though officially this morning) and it reached its objective today at 10.06 am!!! Donations are still accepted, so the money thermometer keeps going up, for more money the campaign has, more and longer ads, including inside the buses, could be bought! At this moment donations are nearly £15,000!!!
The Atheist Bus Campaign began thanks to readers of The Guardian’s Comment Is Free blog. Comedy writer Ariane Sherine wrote an article in June: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/jun/20/transport.religion
Jon Worth, a friend with inextinguishable energy, is behind the web campaigning, and I presume he is behind a big deal of the success. If you like the idea, go and donate!!! I already did.
UPDATE: At 8 pm, the donations totaled already £34,000, wow!
